Tails are still wagging over the 2021 Dogs of the Dow.

Since highlighting the top 10 Dogs earlier this year, most are running higher.

  • Chevon (CVX) ran from $83 to about $97
  • IBM (IBM) ran from $121 to $138
  • Dow (DOW) ran from $53 to $60.60
  • Walgreens (WBA) ran from $40 to $50
  • Verizon (VZ) fell from $58.85 to $54.51
  • 3M (MMM) ran from $179 to $185
  • Cisco (CSCO) ran from $44 to $58
  • Merck (MRK) fell from $80 to $73 so far
  • Coca-Cola (KO) fell from $54 to $56
  • JP Morgan (JPM) ran from $124 to $159

Better, with markets racing to new highs, each of these stocks could push even higher.

For 2020, the Dogs weren’t so hot with the pandemic.

Historically, they’ve done very well.

The Dogs returned nearly 20% in 2019. In 2018, the Dogs eked out a 1% gain, as the Dow lost 5.6% for the year, according to Forbes.

In 2017, the Dogs of the Dow returned 19% for the year.

In 2016, the Dogs returned 16% on average. In 2015, they did okay, returning just 2.6%. In 2014, they returned 10.8%. In 2013, they returned about 35%. In 2012, 9.9%. In 2011, 16.3%. In 2010, 20.5%. And in 2009, they returned nearly 17%.

It’s still a simple strategy that should continue doing well.
